Saturday March 07th – Yarn Painting Punch Needle Workshop

Punch Needle is a form of embroidery, worked with a special tool called a Punch Needle that creates loops on the front of the fabric. It is often called “Thread Painting” due to the wonderful detail you are able to create, much like you can with a painting. The actual technique of punch needle is closely related to rug hooking but the fineness of its appearance, and greater detail, is more appropriately described as embroidery.

Our 3-hour workshop is meant to be a chill session, which we hope will provide you a space and time to slow down from the urgency of urban life. Free your mind from worries, and give your fingers a nifty crafty workout.

In this workshop you’ll practice the punch while you work on your choice of pattern designed for this class. We will be using chunky yarn during this session. Explore the various texture options to create your finished piece. We’ll discuss different types of punch tools, fabrics, and fibers that can be used and troubleshoot common issues.

This is a super satisfying fiber art that is fairly quick and easy, so it’s great for beginners!

Session Includes:
– All materials & tools to be used during the session
– 1 artwork on stretch canvas handcrafted by you to take home
– Take home a set of punch needle kit (1x adjustable punch needle, 1x threader, 1x curve blade scissors)
– Delicious refreshments

Time : 10am-1pm (Workshop will take approximately 3 hours, please be punctual so you have enough time to complete your artwork :))
