Saturday January 11th – CNY Lantern Making with Herohand Angpao

Herohand is hosting a Chinese Lantern Making workshop with specially printed Herohand Angpao to celebrate this Chinese New Year!

Symbolizing fortune and happiness, lanterns are commonly used in Chinese festivals as decoration and they are important handcrafts in Chinese tradition. This workshop aims to share the Chinese traditional paper crafting art and to publicize its historic and cultural meaning.

What makes the workshop even more special is that, this workshop will be co-conducted by the father of Herohand sister duo founder. Mr. Goh has been crafting Chinese Lantern since the 80s and the crafting gets intense every year close to CNY. He is one of the most skillful paper lantern crafter we have ever met.

The workshop will start with an introduction to the history of Chinese lanterns, followed by the explanation of the tools and materials to be used to make a beautiful lantern. You will start by making a simple mini ornament guided by Mr. Goh to familiarize yourself with the material. Mr. Goh will then demonstrate the step-by-step techniques of making the more complicated medium and large decorations.

Session includes:
-All tools to be used during the session
-Take home 1x Large 30x30cm Chinese Lantern + 1x Medium 30x20cm medium ornament + 1x mini ornament; All handcrafted by yourself and ready to decorate
-Take home 2 packets of Herohand Angpao (Up your angpao giving game this year :))
-Delicious refreshments will be provided throughout the session

Time : 2-5pm (Workshop will take approximately 3 hours, please be punctual so you have enough time to complete your artwork :))
