[Cancelled]Saturday April 18th – Thread Painting Punch Needle Workshop (On Tote Bag)

Punch Needle is a form of embroidery, worked with a special tool called a Punch Needle that creates loops on the front of the fabric. It is often called “Thread Painting” due to the wonderful detail you are able to create, much like you can with a painting. The actual technique of punch needle is closely related to rug hooking but the fineness of its appearance, and greater detail, is more appropriately described as embroidery.

In this workshop you’ll practice the punch while you work on selected patterns designed for this class. Explore the various texture options to create your finished piece. We’ll discuss different types of punch tools, fabrics, and fibers that can be used and troubleshoot common issues.

This is a super satisfying fiber art that is fairly quick and easy, so it’s great for beginners!
